ChangeThisFile is a free online file converter supporting 500+ conversion routes across images, video, audio, documents, data, ebooks, fonts, and archives. Drop a file, pick a format, and get your converted file in seconds.
Privacy-First Architecture
Most image and data conversions happen entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your files never leave your device. For formats that require server-side processing (video, audio, documents, ebooks, archives), files are uploaded, converted, and immediately deleted.
How It Works
Client-side conversions use open-source JavaScript libraries running directly in your browser:
- Canvas API for image format conversions
- SheetJS for spreadsheet conversions
- js-yaml, PapaParse, and turndown for data and document conversions
Server-side conversions use industry-standard open-source tools:
- FFmpeg for video and audio
- LibreOffice for documents and presentations
- Calibre for ebooks
- 7-Zip for archives
