Convert CR2 to JPG Online Free

Some quality reduction is inherent when converting from RAW to any standard format. RAW files contain 12-14 bits of color data per channel, while JPG uses 8 bits. However, dcraw applies professional white balance and color processing to produce high-quality output. The result looks excellent for sharing, printing, and web use.

dcraw automatically applies the camera's recorded white balance settings. Unlike Lightroom or Capture One, you can't manually adjust exposure or color temperature before conversion. If you need creative control over RAW processing, use dedicated RAW software first.

The web interface handles one file at a time. For batch processing, use the authenticated API (/v1/convert) which supports programmatic access for automated workflows.

Your CR2 file is uploaded via encrypted TLS, processed on our servers using dcraw, and automatically deleted immediately after conversion. We never store, view, or analyze your photos.

The web converter accepts files up to 25MB (free tier; 500MB on Pro), which covers most CR2 files. High-resolution cameras may produce larger RAW files — the authenticated API supports up to 500MB.

The converter outputs JPG at 92% quality, which provides an excellent balance between file size and visual quality. At this setting, compression artifacts are invisible in normal viewing conditions.

Converting from RAW gives you a higher-quality JPG than in-camera JPEG processing. dcraw applies careful demosaicing and color correction that often produces better results than the camera's built-in JPEG engine, especially in challenging lighting.

The conversion focuses on pixel data. EXIF metadata (camera settings, GPS, date) from the original RAW file is not carried over to the output JPG. Keep the original RAW file if you need metadata preservation.
